Life lesson………

Well usually my blog is reserved for me being a smartass (making fun of the Cubs, Democrats, whomever……) but I really would want to make a serious post…….. I found out some horrible news today about a friend of mine, you may have seen it on the news……… Some of my friends went floating on Saturday, all day event, they didn’t camp, but drove back to St. Louis. Well most of the cars left, St Louis bound. The last car stayed for a bit, my friend was driving her boyfriend’s car, she fell asleep at the wheel, crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit a semi full of hazardous material head on. She was airlifted to a hospital, she is doing ok, well as good as one can be in that situation…………. he was not so lucky, he was killed almost instantly……… He wasn’t wearing his seat belt and was thrown from the car. The two guys in the semi were also shuttled to hospitals. She doesn’t remember the accident, but will have that post accident memories for the rest of her life……. it makes you stop and think about how precious life is and how quickly it can be extinguished……….. Say a prayer for both of them and be sure to wear your seat belts……….

Booze, Benefits, BBQ

So my weekend started on Thursday with the benefit happy hour for Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. $35, all you can drink and food, not a bad deal…… Hanging out with the usual suspects, the night was good. One memorable quote from George was “If he is not me, he is gay.” After 8000 Bud Selects, we decide to go with Ro’s idea and check out Lemoncello, Ro neglected to tell us it was not open yet……… We end up at the Indian restaurant next door, the food was awesome, everyone had ordered water or soda, I ordered a soda, but got talked into trying an Indian Beer, it was good, but came in a rather large bottle…….. I felt bad though because we got there around closing time and they beyond accomodated us…….. but one of the girls with us was talking on her cell phone and said in a loud voice “Yeah, we are at an Indian Restaurant, the food isn’t that good…….” I was like, “Son of a………” Needless to say I left a good tip, went home, curled up and died………. Friday was Round II, on Thursday night, in our drunkeness, we had volunteered Ro’s house to go over to and BBQ……… So Friday after a much needed lunch of greasy burger with George, I call Ro and she tells me the dinner is on. So me, George and Amy all decend to Ro’s house. George was bringing the steaks, Amy was handling the stratches and I of course took care of the booze…….. It was a good night, food was awesome and I must say the chocolate martinis rocked! The blue concoction I created was pretty rough, it would have been fine if we had chilled it, better luck next time I guess……… The night ended with a game of Cranium, me and Ro pretty much got our ass handed to us, it was brutual, but fun……. Though having to hum Opps I did it again really did blew chickens…… Saturday brought a new day, it started with walking Bailey and Roger through Forest Park. Jayne was having troubles with Roger, he ran out of energy and didn’t want to walk anymore, Bailey held up ok, slept well when we got back. That night I had a wedding to attend and the reception at the Jewel Box. Good times had by all, I called it a night after the reception ended. Sunday was another day of fun filled activities. I started off at Syberg’s for a bloody mary and chicken fingers, met a few friends and went to the cardinals game. It was my job to keep my one buddy out of the house all day, as his wife was setting up for his surprise bday party. it went off without a hitch, he was really surprised! We were all sweaty messes from the game, I spent a couple hours at the party before calling it a day………. I think I’m going to stay in all this week, my liver needs the break!!!

Sunburned Skin and a liver that weighs 5 pounds heavier………

So Friday brought the Bronx Bombers to town, the first time they have ever played in Busch Stadium and judging by their play, the last time they will play there….. I started drinking about 4:30pm at Syberg’s. I got to the game via the Syberg’s Shuttle around 6pm. That night I had the luck of being in a Diamond Box, which had as much beer as you could drink and free food. It was a great set up, it was great not being out in the humid air or the rain. The only draw back was when Tino Martinez came up to bat, I had to slide open the door, yell “BOOOOOOO!!” and close the door to resume my drinking…….. We saw a great game, we saw the highly overpaid, overrated and under .500 Yankees completely implode. Giambi at first was about as effective as a screen door on a submarine……. Cards smoked the Yanks 8-1. After the game, we were heading to catch the Syberg’s shuttle, we of course missed it…….. (stupid alcohol) So being the clearest thinker of the group (I know, everyone was in bad shape) I flagged a cab down and herded a few into the cab. I went looking for another cab for the rest of us when one of the girls was trying to get an ice cream truck to drive us back to Syberg’s…….. We finally get a cab, turns out the driver was a Kurd from Northern Iraq and proceeded to tell us about how he was a bodyguard back in the day and how he was shot once….. I really didn’t need his life story, I just needed a bathroom……. He did have some interesting insight into what’s going on over there…….
Back at Syberg’s we take over a couple of tables and continue to drink. Some post game highlights:

- Ellis mooning use for 5 minutes, he kept it up because no one would look at him…….
- Jack doing Karoke
- George doing Jimmy Fallon songs
- The chicklets addict

Saturday I found myself back at Syberg’s, watched the game, had my fill of Chicken Wings and caffine……. Saturday night I met up with everyone at Humphrey’s. Yes I said Humphrey’s, I had not been there in a long long time….. There were a bunch of guys in from out of town and wanted to go there for old time’s sake. It seemed like college all over, I was forced to slam a few drinks and our group seemed to make up 3/4 of the patrons in the bar……… After Humphrey’s, we headed to Big Daddy’s. That place was packed!!! Good times, good crowd, but we got there late, so it was closing time after about an hour…….. We wanted to keep drinking, we headed at Bobby G’s, which is a 3am bar and an interesting place to say the least……. There was a big mix of people and by BIG, I mean BIG…….. lots of tattoo’s also. One girl had a backless shirt on, with her whole back covered with a butterfly tattoo. Backless shirt, sexy, giant tattoo covering whole back, not so much………

Sunday I found myself back at Syberg’s for my morning Bloody Mary, food and to catch the shuttle to the Cards game. The seats were awesome! We were 17 rows back and along the 3rd base side…… The sun was beating down and stupid me didn’t wear much sunscreen. Needless to say I’m Irish (fair skinned) and work with computers, so I don’t tan, I burn……… My arms and legs are nice and Cardinal Red…….. Great game, more beer (just what I needed) and saw another win.

Hopefully the Cards keep on the roll and keep winning! I need to take this week off and recoup………

Dean at it again…….

It’s no lie I’m a Conservative, I’m not part of the finger pointing extremists you find on either side of political spectrum, I’m more in the middle, but his just made me laugh………

Dean told a forum of journalists and minority leaders Monday that Republicans are “not very friendly to different kinds of people, they are a pretty monolithic party … it’s pretty much a white, Christian party.” Asked about it on the “Fox & Friends” show, GOP Party Chairman Ken Mehlman joked that “a lot of folks who attended my bar mitzvah would be surprised” he heads a Christian party. “We gotta get ourselves beyond this point where when we disagree about politics, we call the other guy names,” he said.

Other humorous snipets:

- Democratic New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson said Tuesday that Dean is doing a good job, but is not the party’s spokesman.

- Last weekend, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., and 2004 vice presidential candidate John Edwards criticized Dean for his recent remarks, saying he doesn’t speak for them.

I love how when elected as the head of the DNC everyone thought he would bring the party together, now people seem to be distancing themselves from him…….. Here’s the entire article if you want to read it http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8142785/

Bachelor Parties & Road Trips 07 Jun 2005 03:53 pm

Bachelor Party, Beale Street and Baseball……..

This past weekend kicked off with my buddy’s bachelor party down in Memphis. Me and another guy drove down there, while everyone else flew. The drive isn’t bad, though I always thought Rhode Island was America’s Most Boring State, but Arkansas takes the cake! We arrive in Memphis around 6pm, met up with the others realizing we had some catching up drinking wise to do…… It was an insane weekend, here are the highlights:

- Had a full slab of ribs from Rendezvous, dry rub BBQ is awesome
- Found a great bar, The Flying Saucer, has more beer than Growler’s and the girls all dressed like bad Brittany Spears………..
- The ballet, very nice, crowded and lots of Urkarins……..
- Graceland rocked! I have never seen so much shag carpeting in one place…… my quote for the day “And that leads me to my next topic, DON’T DO DRUGS!”
- Hit up the Cardinals/Cubs game, it was Cardinals weekend, such fan favorites were there like Vince Coleman, Lee Smith and Jack Clark, there must not have been a baseball card show going on anywhere in the nation that weekend…….

Monday went to the Cardinals game, wondered why they couldn’t play like that last October, but it was good to see Edgar was up to his old tricks, hit into a few double plays, had an error that resulted in 2 runs and went 0-4!

As Puffy would say, Vote or Die! (Paris would just wear the T-Shirt and pose for the cameras)

Well the All Star game is approaching in about 6 weeks, currently the Cardinals are leading the NL Central (1st place), leading the NL with the most wins and also leading the NL All Star Voting……. Be sure to vote and help get the boys wearing the Birds on a Bat to the All Star Game! Don’t let the new poster child for steroid abuse get the nomination for SS over Eckstein……….

Here’s the current standings:
